The distinctive rock formation of the Trolltunga complex, where nature seems to defy gravity, stands as a remarkable architectural masterpiece in its own right. The goal is to emphasize the interplay between human architectural intervention and the natural rock formations that morphologically inspire its design. The natural landmark serves as the primary influence for the platform’s form. The “w-edge” consists of two artificial surfaces that blend seamlessly with the surrounding na ture. After their long hiking journey, visitors are invited to walk an additional 30 meters to reach the edge of the platform. They can choose between two levels, each offer ing a distinct kinesthetic experience, catering to varying levels of adventure. The first platform provides a secure, covered viewing area, while the second offers climbers the thrill of approaching the edge of the w-edge safely but without pro tective barriers. The platform features a lightweight metal structure clad in chrome metal sheets. The reflective chrome surface mirrors the surrounding landscape, elegantly inte grating the structure into the Norwegian scenery and harmonizing it with the nat ural environment without disrupting its integrity. The w-edge is designed to harmonize with its environment through carefully cho sen forms and materials, reflecting the shapes and imagery of the surrounding landscape. It serves as both a place of rest and shelter, while also offering visitors a safe yet exhilarating experience.
